Status of this Memo This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. Abstract This document describes extensions to Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Constraint-based Routed Label Distribution Protocol (CR-LDP) signaling required to support Generalized MPLS. Generalized MPLS extends the MPLS control plane to encompass time-division (e.g., Synchronous Optical Network and Synchronous Digital Hierarchy, SONET/SDH), wavelength (optical lambdas) and spatial switching (e.g., incoming port or fiber to outgoing port or fiber). This document presents a CR-LDP specific description of the extensions. A generic functional description can be found in separate documents.

A Tutorial on Optical Networks
In this half-day tutorial, we present the current state-of-theart in optical networks. We begin by discussing the various optical devices used in optical networks. Then, we present wavelength-routed networks, which is currently the dominant architecture for optical networks. We discuss wavelength allocation policies, calculation of call blocking probabilities, and network optimization technique...

متن کاملAn MPLS-based Quality of Service Architecture for Heterogeneous Networks
(ABSTRACT) This thesis proposes a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS)-based architecture to provide quality of service (QoS) for both internet service provider (ISP) networks and backbone Internet Protocol (IP) networks that are heterogeneous in nature. Heterogeneous networks are present due to the use of different link-layer mechanisms in the current Internet. Copper-based links, fiber-based...
متن کاملRFC 3214 LSP Modification Using CR - LDP
This document presents an approach to modify the bandwidth and possibly other parameters of an established CR-LSP (Constraint-based Routed Label Switched Paths) using CR-LDP (Constraint-based Routed Label Distribution Protocol) without service interruption. After a CR-LSP is set up, its bandwidth reservation may need to be changed by the network operator, due to the new requirements for the tra...
